Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 Cup Shortening
• 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
• 1 Egg, Seperated
• 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
• 1 Cup Flour
• 1/4 tsp Salt
• 3/4 Cup Chopped Nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350. Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Blend flour and salt, stir in. roll dough into balls. Beat egg white stiffly with fork. Dip balls in egg white, roll in nuts. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Press thumb in center of each. Bake 10-12 Minutes. Cool then fill with jelly or icing. Makes 3 dozen
