Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats (quick or old fashion)
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 TBS baking powder
  • 2 TBS pure maple syrup
  • 2 1/2 TBS cold butter (cut in small pieces)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup half and half or heavy cream
  • 2/3 cup chopped pecans
  • Glaze
  • 1 1/2 cups powder sugar
  • 1/2 tsp maple extract
  • 5 tsp water

Preparation

Step 1

Pre heat oven to 425 degrees

Finely grind oats in food processor

In mixer combine flour, oats,sugar,salt, and baking powder

Add maple syrup and butter and mix well

In a small bowl beat egg with cream and maple extract
Pour egg mixture into the flour mixture and mix well

Add pecans and mix just to incorporate.

Place dough on floured surface. Knead and pat into 8-10" circle and cut into 8-10 wedges

Spray baking sheet or use silpat. Places wedges on tray and bake 13-15 min
Remove scones from oven to wire rack to cool (5 min)
Mix Glaze and drizzle over scones
