Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients

  • Dumplings:
  • 1/3 Cup Crisco
  • 1 Onion, finely Chopped
  • 1 Tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tsp Pepper
  • 2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Package Chicken Tenders
  • 1 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Half-n-Half
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 Cups Flour

Preparation

Step 1

Saute' onion in Crisco till soft and just turning brown, add spices while sauteing. When oning is ready, add chicken. Coock Chicken on each side til golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Add 1 1/2 Cups water and simmer about 15 minutes. Chicken should be cooked completely by then. Remove chicken and add 1/2 Cup Sour Cream; stirring or shisking till smooth.

Add 1 cup half-n-half. Keep at simmer, do not boil, add chicken back into sauce.

Dumplings:
Beat eggs in large bowl with fork. add 1 Cup water and mix. Add 1/2 Tsp baking powder, 1/2 Tsp Salt and about 2 cups flour to start. Mix with Fork. The mixture should not be to stiff or runny. add more flour or water as needed. Drop by teaspoon into boiling water (will need a large pot). Cook for 15 minutes. Strain

Put dumpling and chicken mixture together and put in low oven for about 30 minutes.
