Ingredients

  • 4 to 4 1/2 C Flour
  • 1 Cup Raisins
  • 1/3 sugar
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Quick sugar glaze
  • 2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 2 TBS milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl. combine 1 1/2 cups flour, raisins and remaining dry ingredients, Heat 1/2 cup margarine; water and milk over low heat until warm. Add to flour mixture; beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer. Add 1/2 cup flour an5d eggs; beat 2 minutes on high speed. Stir in additional flour to form a soft dough. On floured surface knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 5 min. Cover; let rise until double the volume, about 20 min. Punch down dough; divide in half. Cut each half into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into smooth ball; place 2 inches apart, on greased cookie sheet, brush lightly with melted margarine ; cover refrigerate 2 to 24 hours. Uncover; let stand 10 min. Cut shallow cross in top of each bun. Bake at 375 15 to 20 min. Cool slightly; glaze crosses with;

2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
2 TBS milk
1 tsp vanilla
