Ingredients
- Brisket
- 1 envelope of Lipton onion soup mix
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- onions cut up
- bag of small carrots
- salt and pepper to taste
- foil pan
- fry pan or other large pan or pot
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400
On top of stove place some oil in a pan. Get it hot and sear the meat on both sides for 5 minutes each just to brown it a bit (you may want to season your meat with whatever you like...salt, pepper, garlic....
Take out of fry pan and place in foil pan
Mix ketchup, vinegar, sugar, envelope of soup mix all together and coat both sides of meat and pour remaining over top of meat.
Put in oven for 1 hour at 400 then lower to 350 and cook for 2 more hours.
Take out of oven (check meat to make sure it's done) let cook. Then slice with sharp knife.
Put in refrigerator and eat the next day. It tastes best the next day. To heat up, just place enough meat, carrots, onions, juice for the meal you are preparing and place in any pan and simmer until hot/
Freeze leftovers since they are great heated.
I put onions and carrots in the oven when I first put the brisket in. ou may choose to place the carrots in there later so they don't get too soft.
