Ingredients
- 4 tablespoon(s) brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cup(s) water, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) coriander seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) cayenne
- 1/2 cup(s) honey
- 1 fully-cooked baked ham
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium saucepan, mix the sugar and 1 cup water. Add spices and honey. Simmer over medium-low heat, just until the sugar dissolves and the flavors begin to meld. Remove from heat.
Spoon over ham, until the ham is pretty well coated. Make sure not to use all of it, as you will be basting with this mixture during the baking process. Place ham in oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, basting with honey mixture every 15 minutes. Remove ham and spoon more glaze over it.
Remove ham from baking dish and place on a cutting board to rest. Pour about 1/2 cup water and remaining glaze into the baking dish. Heat on the stove over medium heat, scraping the baked-on bits and stirring to dissolve them into the glaze. Pour glaze back into saucepan over medium heat and let simmer to reduce until the glaze lightly coats the back of a spoon.
Slice the ham, and pour glaze over it one last time.
