Ingredients

  • 2-pound pork butt, cut into 4 pieces
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 T water
  • 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce (or chili sauce and minced fresh garlic or garlic powder)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or 1 tablespoon Splenda brown sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Season pork pieces with salt and pepper.

Brown in a large oven-proof pan.

Combine remaining ingredients and pour over browned pork.

Braise in oven, at 325, about 2 1/2 hours, covered, until fork tender - turn once, if you remember.

Continue in oven for 2 hours at 225, then let sit in the oven for a couple more hours.

Remove meat with a slotted spoon and "pull" with forks until shredded. Add braising liquid, to taste.
