Cabbage Rolls

  • 2 large cabbages
  • 3-4 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 - 3/4 box of minute rice
  • 2 large bottles of vegetable cocktail juice (3
  • or 4 small bottles)
  • 1 large can of tomato sauce
  • 2 small cans of tomato paste
  • 1-2 chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Seasoning Salt
  • Salt
  • Pepper



Step 1

Core and boil cabbage….taking leaves off as they get soft.

In a large bowl, mix cocktail juice, tomato sauce, tomato paste and brown sugar until smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix raw ground beef, onion, season salt, salt and pepper.
Add rice until is fairly stiff but not too stiff. Knead with hands. Add 1 cup of the mixed sauce to the meat mixture.

Roll meat into the leaves. Pour most of the remaining mixed sauce over the rolls and cook for 6 hours or more in 275 oven. What juice you have left over, keep in the bottle to pour over the cooked cabbage rolls as the sauce thickens while cooking.
