Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup shredded cheddar
  • 2/3 cup shredded swiss
  • 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. In a large skillet, cook beef, garlic and onion over medium heat. Break up the meat with a spoon and cook until beef is thoroughly browned. Drain off any fat. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. In a bowl, toss the potatoes with flour and oil. Spread half the potato slices in bottom of a shallow 2L baking dish. Spoon half the meat sauce evenly over potatoes and top with half the cheese. Repeat with the remaining potato, meat sauce and cheese. Cover and bake for 50 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Uncover and bake for 5 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
