Toffee Almond Sandies

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sliced almonds
  • 1 (10 oz.) package English toffee bits or almond Brickle chips (7 1/2 oz.)

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, oil and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, bating well after each addition. Beat in almond extract. Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; gradually add to the cream mixture. Stir in almonds and toffee bits.

Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden borne. Remove to wire racks to cool.
