Ingredients
- 1/4 C. Onion, finely chopped
- 1 Garlic Clove, minced
- 1/4 C. White Wine
- 2 Tbsp. Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp. Dried Oregano
- 1/8 tsp. Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 ( 14.5-oz. ) Can Crushed Tomatoes, undrained
- 1 Tbsp. Fresh Basil, chopped
- 1/2 tsp. Balsamic Vinegar
Preparation
Step 1
Heat a lg. saucepan over med-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add onion to pan; saute 3 min. or till tender. Add minced garlic to pan; saute 30 sec. Stir in white wine; cook 30 sec.. Add tomato paste, oregano, freshly ground black pepper & crushed tomatoes. Reduce heat & simmer for 20 min. or till thick. Remove from heat; stir in chopped fresh basil & balsamic vinegar. Cool. Yield: 11/3 C. *Spicy Pizza Sauce Variation: Add 1/2 tsp. Crushed Red Pepper with the oregano & black pepper; omit basil.
