Applesauce Fruitcake

Ingredients
- 9 c applesauce
- 4 tsp cloves
- 6 tsp baking soda
- 2 c mixed candied fruit
- 4 c butter
- 4 tsp allspice
- 4 c currants or raisins
- 2 c chopped walnuts
- 6 c sugar
- 12 c flour
- 2 c chopped figs
- 8 eggs
- 9 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 c chopped dates
- 1 Tbsp apricot brandy

Preparation
Step 1
Dredge fruit in 2 c flour. Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and spices until light. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture until well blended. Stir in dredged fruit alternately with applesauce. Bake in greased bread pans at 325 for 1 ½ hours or until done. When cooled, drizzle apricot brandy. Store in closed containers, in a cool place from Thanksgiving weekend until the week before Christmas for the best results in flavor.
