Ingredients

  • 12 oven ready Lasagna noodles
  • 500 grams of extra lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 680 ml spaghetti sauce
  • 156 ml tomato paste
  • 250 ml water
  • salt and pepper
  • 500 gram ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 750 ml mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 125 ml parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

%{color: red}Preheat oven to 350⁰F%
* In a medium skillet, brown beef, onion and garlic.
* Drain off fat.
* Stir in spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, water, salt and pepper.
* Simmer for 15 minutes.
* In a small bowl, combine ricotta cheese and eggs.
Assembly:
* Set aside 1 cup meat sauce (for top).
* Spread 3/4 cup hot meat sauce over bottom of 3.5 l lasagna pan.
* Arrange a layer of 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce 1 cm apart.
* Layer 1/2 remaining meat sauce, 1/2 ricotta cheese mixture and 1/2 mozzarella cheese.
* Cover with second layer of lasagna noodles.
* Repeat meat sauce and cheese layers.
* Top with the last 4 noodles.
* Cover completely with reserved meat sauce.
* Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Bake at 350⁰F for about 40 minutes or until noodles are tender. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
