Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp of Clorox***(USE ONLY CLOROX!!!)
- 1 gallon of water
Preparation
Step 1
Into this bath, place the fruits and vegetables that are to be treated. The thin-skinned fruits and vegetables require 10 minutes. The root vegetables and heavy-skinned fruits will require 15-30 minutes. Apples and Potatoes will take 30 minutes. Potatoes may take a longer time.
TIMING IS VERY IMPORTANT. MAKE A FRESH BATH FOR EACH GROUP.
Remove from Clorox bath and place into fresh water bath for 5- 10 minutes. Now the food is ready to finish cleaning and prepare for storage. Let the food drain very well before placing it in the refrigerator.
Vegetables:
Leafy vegetables
Root vegetables, heavy skinned or fiber vegetables
Fruits:
Thin skinned berries
Fruits such as peaches, Apricots, Plums etc.
Heavy skinned fruits such as Apples, Citrus Fruit and Bananas.
Leafy vegetables 10-15 minutes
Root Vegetables 15-30 minutes
Thin skinned berries 10-15 minutes
Heavy skinned fruits 15-30 minutes
Eggs 20-30 minutes
Meats per pound, thawed 5-10 minutes
