Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar mixed with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl mash together butter and 3/4 cup sugar. Add the egg and beat until creamy. Add the baking powder, salt and flour. Stir until you have thick dough. In small bowl, combine the cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar.

Shape dough into balls size of walnut, or an egg yolk. Roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place on greased cookie sheet. Using bottom of smooth cup or glass, press dough down to flatten cookies slightly. Bake cookies at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

Yield: About 2 1/2 dozen.
