Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice or cloves
- 1/2 cup melted butter, cooled
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup brandy, rum or orange juice
- 2 cups pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped
- 2 cups raisins
- 2 cups chopped candied fruit
Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl, stir flour with sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and allspice.
Stir in butter eggs and brandy.
When evenly mixed, stir in nuts, raisins and fruit.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake in centre of 375°F oven until golden and slight imprint remains when touched with a finger, from 12 to 14 minutes.
Cool cookies on a rack.
