Green Bluff Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • Apples, peeled and cored
  • VANILLA SAUCE
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients; cut in butter. Stir in milk. Roll into 10" log; cut in 1-2" pieces (depending on size of apples). Roll each dough piece into a circle.
Place an apple in center of each circle; fill apple center with 1 tsp sugar, sprinkle of cinnamon, and 1 tsp butter. Fold dough up over apple.
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 for 30- 40 minutes until apple is done.

VANILLA SAUCE
In a saucepan, wisk ingredients into 3 cups cold water. Stir and cook over medium heat until thick; add 1/4 cup butter and 2 tsp vanilla.

Serve warm over dumplings.
