Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese (1 ounce)
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp ice water
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a medium-size bowl, mix flour and pepper. With a pastry blender, cut in the butter until mixture resembles crumbs. Blend in the cheeses; add ice water. Stir with a fork until mixture forms a ball.
Place the ball on a lightly floured work surface. With a rolling pin, roll out until approximately 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 3-by-1/2-inch sticks.
Bake on ungreased baking sheets until lightly browned, 10 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
These sticks can be made ahead, covered, and refrigerated until ready to bake.
