Ingredients
- WHITE CAKE
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup butter/margarine, softened
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- BROWN SUGAR SAUCE
- 1 3/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 3 cups water
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp butter/margarine (optional)

Step 1
CAKE: Measure all ingredients in order given into mixing bowl. Beat on low speed until moistened. Beat at medium speed about 2 to 3 minutes until smooth. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake in 350 oven for about 35 to 40 minutes until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.
Brown sugar sauce;
Combine brown sugar, flour and salt in heavy medium saucepan. Mix thoroughly.
Stir in water. Bring to a bil over medium-low heat. Stir often. A whisk will remove lumps, if any.
Add vanilla and butter. Stir. Cover and keep hot. Leftover sauce may be frozen. Makes 4 cups.
