Bittersweet Fudge Sauce
By Hklbrries
Low-fat fudge sauce will satisfy sweet tooth.
If your dessert motto goes something like 'give me chocolate or give me death,' your heart will melt over this dark, rich Bittersweet Fudge Sauce.
Made with unsweetened chocolate, cocoa, and fat-free condensed milk, it has the thick texture of ice-cream store fudge sauce with a fraction of the fat and calories. A generous 2-ounce serving contains just 4 grams of fat, or about 36 calories worth.
Most hot fudge sauces are made with butter and margarine and large amounts of sugar. In this recipe, all the sugar is contained in the condensed milk, so there is no need to add more. The sauce contains no added butter or margarine.
Serve this Bittersweet Fudge Sauce hot over fat-free ice cream or frozen yogurt, angel food cake or sliced fruit.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 1 (12 ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tbsp cocoa
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Break the chocolate squares into pieces and place in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir in the fat-free condensed milk and stir frequently until the chocolate melts.
In a separate container, whisk the water into the cocoa to make a smooth liquid; gradually pour the cocoa mixture into the chocolate. (Whisking the water into the cocoa helps prevent lumps in the sauce). Whisk in the vanilla and salt and remove from heat.
Serve warm or chilled over fat-free ice cream or frozen yogurt, angel food cake or sliced fruit.
