Ingredients

  • 1 brisket 6 to 8 pounds1 can Coca Cola 12oz
  • 1 bottle chili sauce 12oz1 packet dried onion soup mix
  • 2 cups bar-b-que sauce any flavor1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder

Preparation

Step 1

Trim the fat from the brisket. To trim or not to trim the fat is optional in baking brisket. If you choose not to trim before baking, trim fat after baking. Season the brisket with the garlic and onion powder. Mix cola, chili sauce and onion soup mix. Place brisket fat side up in a Dutch oven or 13x9x2 baking dish after lightly spraying with PAM. Pour liquid mixture over brisket and cover tightly with lid or aluminum foil. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes per pound, about 3 1/2 hours or until tender. You may cook the brisket all day at 220 degrees. Pour barbecue sauce in last 30 minutes of baking. Serves 8 to 10.
Many Facebook fans recommend - Don't trim the fat, you lose flavor Fat=Flavour and that it comes off after the meat is cooked.
