Ingredients

  • Pie:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 can (29 oz. Barlett Pear Halves)
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 9-inch pie shell unbaked
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats, uncooked
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup buter melted
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 of this topping makes plenty

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg. Drain pears, reserving liquid. Add water to reserved liquid to make 1 1/2 cups; stir liquid into saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thick and clear. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and butter. Slice pears and arrange in unbaked pie shell. Pour sauce over pears. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over pie. Bake 20 minutes.
