Ingredients
- SAUCE:
- 1 large onion
- 4 stalks celery
- garlic cloves
- olive oil
- 2 TBS italian seasoning
- 2 tsp celery salt
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- handful fresh chopped parsley
- 1 large can contadina puree (28 oz)
- 12 can tomato paste
- MEATBALLS:
- 1 lb pork
- 1 lb beef
- 1/2 cup italian bread crumbs
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup parm cheese (freshly grated)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- fresh parsley (handful)
- 1-1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Saute 1 large onion, 4 stalks celery, garlic cloves in olive oil. Add 2 TBS italian seasoning, 2 tsp celery salt, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp sugar. Add handful fresh chopped parsley. Cook on low til soft. Stir, add 1 large can Contadina puree (28 oz) and cook about 5 minutes. Add 1 can water - stir, simmer. Mix extra large can tomato paste (12oz) with 4 can water til smooth. Add to sauce and boil****, then simmer uncovered about 4 hours.
**** Drop meatballs in sauce while boiling
** NOTE: spices are approx measures except sugar! DO NOT overdo sugar!**
