Preparation
Step 1
Section 1: Care and feeding of the starter
-Do not use any type of metal utensil (Bowl, Spoon, or measuring cup) for mixing or measuring.
-Do not refrigerate the starter.
-Day 1 through 5: Mash the bag.
-Day 6: Add 1 C each Milk, Flour, & Sugar.
-Day 7-9: Mash the bag.
-Day 10: Bake!
Section 2: Baking
-Preheat oven to 325 degrees
-Place starter in non-metallic measuring cup. It should be about 3 cups. Add equal amounts of flour, sugar, and milk to bring it to 3 1/2 cups plus 1 cup for each starter. For example, to leave one starter, you will add 1/2 cup of each (1 1/2 cups total) to make 4 1/2 cups of starter mix. Mix this well.
-Place 1 cup of starter in a gallon ziplock bag for each friend to be gifted. Mark it with the date. This should leave 3 1/2 cups of starter for your baking.
-Combine all ingredients with the starter and mix well.
-Grease 2 large loaf pans (Metal is ok now) or 1 large and 3 small pans.
-Dust the pans with cinnamon sugar.
-Pour batter evenly into loaf pans.
-Dust top of batter with cinnamon sugar
-Bake for 1 hour or until a knife inserted into the middle of the loaf comes out clean.
-Cool until bread loosens evenly from the pans, then remove.
Variations:
-Add chopped walnuts, pecans, or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
-Substitute 2 mashed bananas for the vanilla pudding.
