Anisette Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tsp anise extract

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.

Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy.

Beat in one egg until completely incorporated, then another. Beat the last egg with the anise extract. Mix in flour mixture until incorporated.

Place dough on a cookie sheet and form into a rectangle. 1/2" thick/12" long.

Bake until golden and firm 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 5 minutes then slice. Return cut side down to pan and bake 5-10 minutes. Cool before serving.
