Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 large apple, peeled and diced
- 1/4 c. finely chopped walnuts
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and salt into large bowl. cut in butter with pastry blender. Measure out 1/4 c.; reserve for topping. Add apple and nuts to flour mixture. Beat egg in small bowl. Add milk. Pour into flour mixture; stir until just mixed. Batter will be lumpy. Spoon into lightly greased muffin cups, filling 2/3 full.
Add 1 tsp. cinnamon and brown sugar to reserved topping mixture; sprinkle over each muffin.
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
