Never Fail Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. br. sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. bak. powder
  • 1/2 tsp. bak. soda
  • 3/4 tsp. ginger
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 1/2 c. flour

Preparation

Step 1

Pour hot water over shortening and stir. Add br. sugar, molasses and egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to liquids. Beat with mixer till smooth.
Bake in greased 8x8 pan, 350 deg., 35 minutes
