Ingredients

  • 1 - 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 - 14 1/2 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 - 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 & 2/3 cups cottage cheese (a large container)
  • 1 heaping cup parmesan cheese (fresh, grated)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 cups mozarella cheese
  • 8 oz. uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 8 oz. mozarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat and onions and drain.
Add the tomatoes, water and spices.
Simmer while you mix the cheese mixture.

Mix together the cottage cheese and 1 heaping cup of parmesan cheese, parsley flakes, oregano and 2 cups mozzarella cheese.

Layer in greased 9 x 13 pan as follows:
1/2 sauce/meat mixture
1/2 noodles
all cheese mixture
1/2 noodles
remaining meat sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese

Bake at 350 for 1 hour covered and then 15 minutes uncovered. Remove from oven a few minutes before serving.
