ORANGE TOFFEE BUNDT CAKE

Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp. finely grated orange zest
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut in pieces
  • 4 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 large egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • ICING
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp grated orange zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 cup SKOR bits

Preparation

Step 1

CAKE:

Blend brown sugar, white sugar and orange peel. Sift in the flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Add the butter till pieces are no longer visible.

Whisk together the eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Add all at once to flour mixture. Mix on low speed till moist and then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Pour into a bundt pan and bake at 275 for 10 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 325 and continue baking for another 50 minutes.

ICING:

Cook butter om medium heat till brown and nutty. Strain. Cool. While still warm whisk the butter into the icing sugar and add the orange zest and vanilla till smooth. Pour over the cooled cake and have it drip over the sides. Shake the sea salt and SKOR bits on top.
