Baked Ribs and Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 3 Lb spareribs or country style ribs
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 (32oz) jar sauerkraut, undrained
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tart apples, peeled, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 450. Cut ribs into serving sized pieces. Place in ungreased 13x9 inch pan; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 450 for 20 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350. Remove ribs from pan; drain meat dripping from pan. In same pan, combine sauerkraut and remaining ingredients; spread evenly over bottom. Arrange ribs on top of sauerkraut mixture. Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until ribs are tender; stirring occasionally.
