Strawberry Pie (The Fresh Market)

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • 1 Oreo cookie crust (or any other kind of crust)
  • fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and dried
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Beat cream cheese with almond extract and sugar. Fold in whippec cream. Pour into crust. Top with whole berries pointed-end-up. Melt some chocolate chips and drizzle over top. Refrigerate several hours.

To whip heavy cream, have cream, bowl, and beaters chilled before whipping on high speed. If additional ingredients and flavorings are to be added, whip only to form soft peaks then add ingredients and continue to whip until firm peaks form. Whipped cream used for a dessert topping should be medium-stiff peaks. Over-whipping will turn cream into butter. Store whipped cream, covered, in refrigerator. It will hold for 2-3 hours.
