Sweet Soy-Garlic Sauce

To make the sauce spicier, stir in additional chili-garlic sauce to taste.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 medium garlic cloves, minced or pressed through a garlic press (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Thai chili-garlic sauce, such as sriracha

Preparation

Step 1

Simmer all of the ingredients together in a small saucepan over medium heat until syrupy, about 5 minutes. Let cool to room temperature before serving. (The sauce can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 1 day.)
