Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies

By

I have made this type of cookie using many different peanut cookie recipes, but this one is the best. The cookies have lots of flavor, and are soft and chewey. The kids have been involved in making these probably since about age 2 by unwrapping the kisses, and rolling the dough balls in sugar. These are definitely a highlight in our Christmas cookie baking campaigns. The recipe is from Jeff's Mom. By the way, she puts us to shame on the Christmas cookie baking. She makes tons and gives many away. Her cookies typically are very time consuming recipes that I don't have the patience for. I usually double the batch. (amount in ounces for single batch)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar (3.9)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (4.6)
  • 1/2 margarine
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (4.8)
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups flour (8.9)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Hershey's Kisses

Preparation

Step 1

Blend together sugars, margarine, peanut butter, milk, vanilla, and egg. Add flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix. Roll into balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes. Take out of oven and push down each cookie ball with a Hershey's kiss.
