Ingredients
- 6 slices white sandwich bread crusts removed and slices cut into 1/2-inch cubes (about 3 cups)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Step 1
1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 400 degrees. Combine bread cubes and salt and pepper to taste in medium bowl. Drizzle with butter and toss well with rubber spatula to combine.
2. Spread croutons in single layer on rimmed baking sheet or in shallow baking dish. Bake croutons, turning over at halfway mark, until golden brown and crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. After cooling, croutons can be stored in an airtight container or plastic bag for up to 3 days.
