Bernice's Baked Beansmy Mom's Baked Bean Recipe and One Of My Favorites

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds Navy Beans
  • 2 1/2 quarts Water
  • 1 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 1 12-oz can Tomatoes Whole Canned
  • 8 Slice Bacon
  • 1 pound Ham; dices into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 ea Onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard
  • 2 1/4 cups Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

In the pressure cooker add beans, water, salt, and pepper, bring mixture to a boil. Dice 1 onion an add to mixture, add ground mustard and using a garlic press, crush the garlic and add into mix. Boil until bean are firm not fully cooked approx. 45 to 60 minutes. Decant off liquid retain 2 cups to use if needed while baking. Add ketchup, brown sugar, diced tomatoes, dice and add remain onion and the diced ham. Mix and pour into a Pyrex bowel. Place strips of bacon over bowel and bake in a 350? Oven for approx. 2 Hours
