Ingredients

  • 2 tsbp oil
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp. Chili powder
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tbsp. mustard powder
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 cup pineapple preserves
  • 3 smashed garlic cloves
  • 1 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in pan- add garlic and cook till tender and golden brown.
Stir in tomato paste and chili powder.
Whisk in vinegar, 1/4 cup water, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, honey, mustard powder, pepper and cayenne.
bring to simmer and cook 5 minutes whisking occasionally
Whisk in ketchup and preserves and bring to gentle simmer and cook till thickened whisking occasionally (45 minutes).
Whisk in liquid smoke.
Let cool and remove garlic
Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
