Ingredients
- 1 lb. butter, softened (not margarine)
- 3/4 sugar, half brown, half powdered
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- colored sugar
- cherries
Preparation
Step 1
Mix butter, sugar and flour together first with a spoon then work it by hand until it will combine into a ball. Divide into 4 portions. Roll each portion into log about 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Roll in waxed paper. Chill for shape retention when sliced. May be sliced immediately or rolled on a slight flour surface and cut into shapes. If slicing, cut in 1/4 inch rounds. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in 325 oven for 10-12 minutes.
Spread butter icing over top. Place a tiny piece of cherry on top.
WHIPPED SHORTBREAD
Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar well. Slowly beat in flour. Drop by spoonfuls on baking sheet. Press half or whole red green cherries in center. Bake as above.
