  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 2 # large red waxy potatoes
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 2-1/2 c. (8oz) Swiss cheese
  • salt, pepper, and nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 350. rub inside of gratin dish with butter. peel the potatoes and slice into rounds. don't wash the rounds again you need the starch on their surface to thicken the gratin. combine half and half with garlic and bring to a simmer. arrange potatoes in layers in the gratin dish sprinkling each layer with cheese and the spices. cover top with a layer of the cheese and bake 1 hour.
