Every now and then, you come across a recipe so ridiculously indulgent and unabashedly excessive that you simply must prepare it immediately. A prefect example? This recipe for homemake Kit Kat bars, adapted from Paula Deen and loaded with peanut butter, choc. and butterscotch chips.

Ingredients

  • 75 Club crackers
  • 1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown suger
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup semisweet choc. chips
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Step 1

Line 9 by 13 in. rectangular baking pan with one layer of club crackers ( you may need to break some to fit).

Melt butter in large saucepan over med. heat. Add graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, milk and sugar. Bring to boil. Boil for 5 min. stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat. Pour 1/2 of butter mix. over crackers in pan. Smooth surface with spatula.

Arrange another layer of club crackers over butter mix. Pour remaining butter mix. over surface. Smooth surface. Arrange a third layer of crackers over top.

Combine peanut butter, choc. chips and butterscotch chips in small saucepan. Melt over med. low heat, stirring constantly. Spread over crackers.

Cool to room temp. then cover and refrig. 2 hours. Cut into 2 in bars.Bars will keep for 2 weeks, stored in an airtight container in the refrig.
