Maple Apple Bourbon BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored & diced
  • 1 Tbs grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 c. maple syrup
  • 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c. bourbon
  • 1 c. chili sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne

Preparation

Step 1

In medium saucepan over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add onion, garlic & apple. Cook until onions are golden brown & apples are quite soft, about 10 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, then simmer on medium, covered about 30 minutes. Stir often. Adjust S&P. Transfer to blender in batches, if necessary, then puree' until smooth. Cool, then refrigerate in sealed container.
