  • 1-1/2 # carrots, sliced
  • bechamel sauce (Ragu)
  • salt & pepper
  • 3/4 c.parmesan
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/4 # bacon, cubed and cooked till crisp
  • bay leaf

Step 1

preheat oven to 375. arrange a single layer of carrots in buttered gratin dish. pour enough bechamel sauce to cover them. sprinkle with salt and pepper, bay leaf and a fourth of the parmesan. sprinkle the gratin with bread crumbs, parmesan and bacon. bake for 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours. slide gratin under the broiler to brown before serving.
