Gordon's Fool-Proof Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 C flour
  • 1 C shortening
  • 3 Tbs water
  • 1 Tbs vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix dry ingredients in a lg bowl. Use a pastry cutter to blend ingredients. Split into two equal lumps. Roll out to a thin even layer between wax paper sheets. Tape the bottom wax paper piece to the counter to prevent slippage. Do not grease pie plates. Place into pie plate, crimp edges. For pies with a pre-baked crust, line pie shell with waxed paper and fill with rice (rice can be re-used). Bake for 15 min and then turn 180 degrees and bake for another 15 min. Makes two pie crusts or a top and bottom crust.
