  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan. Beat butter in bowl with electric mixer until creamy, 1-2 minutes.

Add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until mixture is very light, about 5 minutes. Beat in milk and vanilla.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl; mix well. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat on low just until mixed. Pour into pan.

Bake cake about 1 hour 15 minutes. Place cake on rack, cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on rack.
