Sliced Carmelized Onions

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 pounds onions sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon molasses

Preparation

Step 1

In a large non-stick skillet, heat oil and butter until melted. Add onions and cook over a medium heat for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix all the other ingredients in a bowl. After the onions have cooked the 45 minutes add the mixture and cook on a low heat stirring occasionally for an additional 15 minutes until the onions are golden brown.
