Jumbo Raisin Cookies

Ingredients

• Boil:
• for 5 minutes 2 cups raisins
• 1 cup water
• Cream:
• 1 cup shortening
• 2 cups sugar
• 3 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• Add cooled raisins and juice from them
• Sift together and add gradually:
• 4 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 1 1/2 teaspoon cinammon
• 1 1/4 teaspoons nutmeg
• 1 1/4 teaspoons allspice
• Add 1 cup nuts if desired
• Mix well and drop by spoonfulls on well-greased cookie sheets.
