Caramel Candy Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 package vanilla caramels, 14 oz
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats or regular oats
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or dry roasted peanuts

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350. Heat caramels and milk in 2 QT. saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until smooth; remove from heat and reserve. Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Stir in egg and margarine with fork until mixture is crumbly.
