Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar plus extra for coating
  • 2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons water

Preparation

Step 1

Set oven temperature to 300 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter
and powdered sugar. Add vanilla and water.
Mix well. Combine flour and baking soda with
butter mixture. Stir in chopped pecans. Using
clean hands, roll the pecan sandy dough into
1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet &
flatten slightly with hand. If the dough is too
sticky to work with comfortably, cover the dough
with plastic wrap and chill until workable.

Bake at 300 degrees for approximately 20 minutes.
Cool on cookie sheet until you are able to handle
the pecan sandies comfortably with your hands.
Dip cookie in powdered sugar.
