Porcupine Balls

Another recipe that I used to make all the time for Beth and Heather (and have made it for the grandkids too). It's fast and easy, and a real kid pleaser

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup raw white rice (regular ~ not instant)
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 15 oz. tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp Worchestershire sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350. Mix meat, rice, 1/2 cup water, onion, salts, garlic powder & pepper ~ shape by heaping teaspoons into balls. Place meatballs in ungreased 9” pan. Stir together remaining ingredients with remaining 1 cup water and pour over meatballs. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
