Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup black coffee
  • 2/3 cup (10-2/3 Tablespoons) shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees:


In seperate bowl combine dry ingredients:Flour, cinnamon, cloves & baking powder.

In large bowl, cream shortening, add eggs, sugar & cocoa. Then add nuts & coffee.

Add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Mix well.

Let stand in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Form into small balls, and place on cookie sheet.

Bake 350 degrees 10-12 min.

Place cookies on rack to cool.
Glaze cooled cookies with a powdered sugar & milk glaze. Let glaze harden and store in cookie container.
