Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh bing or other sweet cherries, pitted & halved
- 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- few drops of red food coloring
- 1/2 cup brandy for flaming
Preparation
Step 1
Mix cornstarch & sugar together until well blended.
Stir in orange juice & cook & stir until thickened & clear.
Stir in prepared cherries, lemon juice, almond extract & food coloring
Cool.
To flame: warm 1/2 cup brandy and add to warm cherries. Use long match or flame stick to ignite brandy.
Serve flaming cherries over ice cream.
May be frozen for Xmas treat.
Defrost & Heat cherry sauce through before adding warm brandy.
